“Well it’s been rough and rocky traveling, but I’m finally standing upright on the ground.”
                                                                                            -  Willie Nelson

Nobody said it better than Willie, because that long-haired bastard really knows.  You bust your ass playing the dives and dumps, telling yourself that it will all work out.  Sometimes it does and sometimes it doesn’t, but either way the never-changing goal is to stay in the game.  Stay in ‘til the bastards have no choice but to give you the shot.

The Payaso Comedy Slam holds a special place in my heart because it was the first shot.  We did a hell of a job with it.  We got a great response when it aired on Showtime and Comedy Central and we were also honored with an ALMA nomination (American Latino Media Association).  We didn’t take home the award (that honor went to my good friend Alex Reymundo for Hick-Spanic and George Lopez for America’s Mexican).  The way I see it, we were in pretty good company.

Here it is for all of you cheap bastards unwilling to throw down for cable (sadly, I include myself in that bunch).  I hope that you enjoy my short take on the way life constantly surprises and pisses me off.
